Final Project

This is my little brother Malachi, who is very difficult to take pictures of.  Not because he's autistic, but because he knows the camera is there! It doesn't matter what I do or what I tell him, he sees the camera. But one moment he's asking for me to take a picture, and the other he tells me I'm driving him nuts and to leave him alone.  But either way, each of these pictures shows you just who my little brother really is.  A big personality in a tiny container. :)

Assignment #6: Black and White Portraits

Someone I Don't Know:

My little brother's friend.  I had my camera on Easter Sunday at the park with my family and some friends taking pictures of boring ducks.  This little guy wouldn't leave me alone until I'd taken a picture of the stick in his hand, witch he is enraptured with in this photo. Or annoyed at me for not taking the picture sooner. I can't tell which.

Someone I Know:

My Dad.  I kept trying to take a picture of him, and he would put the cracker in front of his face. Then he thought he was being smart when he made a face and ate it. But I took the picture quickly enough to get that face, and for it to be in focus. Victory.

I learned from this assignment that black and white photos can have just as much emotion and animation in them as color photos. Almost more so, because the colors aren't distracting from your subject.

Assignment #5: Portraits

Someone I know: My grandmother. I was over at her house working on a scholarship application and had my camera with me.

Before.

I knew I had taken more pictures of her! As it turns out, there were two separate groups of pictures I had taken in two separate folders.  Viola! So much better!
Someone I don't know: This is Laura. We met in art class last semester but don't know each other well. I saw her in the hallway on the way to class and asked if I could take some pictures after talking to her for a little while.

Me as Not Myself: ha ha, that's right. ;) I figured that no girl had done this before, so I gave it a shot! Shot...get it? As in shot a photo... nevermind.

I learned from this assignment that it can be really fun to take pictures of people. :)  Before, I only took pictures of flowers and leaves because I thought I wouldn't be able to take good pictures of human beings.  But now I think I can.

Assignment #4: Color Theory

Complementary

Monochromatic

Analagous

Really for this assignment, I grabbed my camera, found some windows with light coming through them and started taking pictures.  I figured that if I took tons of pictures, I would have lots of options instead of just picking the best turd out of all of five turd pictures.  I also decided to use the best light: window light.  You don't realize how crappy other light is until you take pictures under window light.
